Morot Chayalot (Teacher-Soldiers)

The Morot Chayalot (teacher-soldiers) unit in the IDF was founded in 1951, inspired by David Ben Gurion’s vision of IDF being the army of the people and being involved in national tasks. The teachers in the various tracks in this program bridge social and scholastic gaps among by new immigrants, work with students with special needs, and teach in elementary schools, educational dormitories, and after-school programs throughout Israel. Aluma has been operating the training center for these soldiers for over 20 years, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and the IDF, believing that meaningful service requires a meticulous screening process, professional training, and in-service training programs to prepare the soldiers for their service and enable them to fulfill their roles in the best way possible.
